Leaders Scunthorpe beat Peterborough to make it five league wins in a row

Leaders Scunthorpe made it five straight Sky Bet League One wins with a 2-0 victory at Peterborough.

Goals in either half from Kevin van Veen and Neal Bishop slightly flattered the visitors, who benefited from some wasteful Peterborough finishing in the second-half.

Scunthorpe took the lead on 21 minutes as captain Stephen Dawson's pacey right-wing cross was met by Van Veen a few yards out for his ninth goal of the season in all competitions.

Peterborough manager Grant McCann brought on Lee Angol and Gwion Edwards at half-time, and the pair made a difference with Edwards' cross falling to Michael Smith who shot wide from 15 yards.

Posh threatened again when Tom Nichols cushioned a volley against the outside of the post, before the striker headed over after Marcus Maddison's shot was parried into his path by Scunthorpe goalkeeper Luke Daniels.

Sam Mantom hit the side netting for the visitors, before Bishop sealed the win on 83 minutes

His header from a corner was saved, as was the header from Charlie Goode, before the midfielder bundled in from close range.
