Pearson didn't agree with any of the key decisions in the game, but was thankful his side managed to snatch a point from a scrappy affair.
"Our lads felt theirs was not a penalty but it was still given but then their sending-off may have been a bit harsh", he told saintsfc.co.uk.
"These key decisions are frustrating for managers especially when they go against you and I feel for Nigel Adkins.
"I did not see what our penalty was given for, I am sure Nigel will feel hard done by and I have some sympathy - but not too much"
The new man in charge at St Mary's is hopeful his side can use the point as something to build on in the coming weeks.
"We needed this point and I am delighted because it has given us something to take away and build on."
