Official websites in cash crisis

The FL has a deal with Premium TV to run the official websites of the 72 club's as of the start of last season, Premium TV is essentially long struggling Cable company NTL operating it's internet franchises under a seperate name.

Each club earns a percentage payment depending on the amount of hits the official site gets, as well as a share of bets made via the club's official betting service - in our case TheIronBet.co.uk.

The setup is worth £65million over the first five years of the deal, with the latest installment due to be paid to club's this Friday.

However it seems that NTL will be unable to make the payments, with the two parties meeting to discuss the situation.

The troubled company have asked the Football League to waive £35million of expected income in return for an 80% of profits in future, as opposed to the 50% they were expecting.

Although we're unsure how much the payment to SUFC was due to be, we do know that Hull City - with a more popular website than our official site - were expecting around £70K while our first division neighbours Grimsby Town are due around £50K.

We will have to wait and see for future developments, but we still encourage fans to visit the official site as well as returning to Iron-Bru.net for the latest independent news, analysis and opinion.
