O'Connor, 22, was pleased to see Baraclough take charge as caretaker last Sunday when Nigel Adkins and his assistant Andy Crosby left to take charge at Southampton.
"Every club needs stability and Ian replacing Nigel on a permanent basis would provide that, but we have to prove that he is a good manager by doing well on the pitch," he told Sky Sports.
"If not then hopefully a new manager will be installed soon enough and we can start that new chapter as quickly as we can."
