Speaking on BBC Radio Humberside before tonight's visit of Macclesfield Town Wharton said that Scunthorpe United do not want to lose the player, but will not stand in his way if the offer is right.
"Norwich have shown and interest in Andy Dawson but have only offered a nominal amount for him," he said.
"The figure that Norwich offered us was very minimal, it was derisory really.
Norwich City still chasing Dawson
"If they made us a reasonable offer we'd have to consider it as it'd be a very good move from Andy's view.
"They've been back recently just to see if our position has changed.
"I think their response is that he's a free agent at the end of the season and they'll probably show some interest.
"Unless Norwich or someone else comes up with an offer that is very tempting then we'd very much like to keep Andy here.
