Murphy overlooked by Ireland

Murphy was named in Giovanni Trapattoni's provisional squad, but did not make the cut.

The Italian coach has included two keepers in the squad - Newcastle United's Shay Given and West Bromwich Albion's Dean Kiely.

There is one player in the squad with a former Iron connection, however, with the Wolves forward Andy Keogh one of five strikers called up.
