Giovanni Trapattoni, the Republic manager, has opted for three goalkeepers - Shay Given, Dean Kiely and Kieren Westwood.
Andy Keogh, the former Iron forward who now plays for Wolves, has been named in the squad as a midfielder.
Trapattoni led his side to a 2-1 victory over Georgia in September, and is confident of a repeat result at Croke Park.
"Georgia are strong opposition, but we believe in ourselves as a team and I look forward to our fans' help to give us a home advantage throughout the 90 minutes," he said.
"This will be the first match of a very important year ahead in our challenge to qualify for the 2010 World Cup."
