Murphy is one of three keepers named by the Republic coach Giovanni Trapattoni for the game at Croke Park.
Newcastle United's Shay Given and West Brom's Dean Kiely are the other two.
Murphy is unlikley to miss any Iron games, as he will join up with his international teammates after Friday's League One game at Bristol Rovers and return in time for the visit of Leicester City on Saturday.
If Trapattoni names his strongest side he is likely to opt for Given in goal, meaning Murphy will hope for a spell off the bench in the second-half.
Andy Keogh, the former Scunthorpe striker, has also been named in the squad - albeit as a midfielder.
Trapattoni views the game as an important part of his side's World Cup qualification campaign - even though their next competitive game is not until February 11, when Georgia visit.
"I look forward to this opportunity to work with my players again," he said.
"This match will enable us to continue our preparations for qualification and will give me a further opportunity to build my squad before the important games ahead of us next year."
