Midfielder Butcher turned down Iron move

The box-to-box player, who is currently on loan at his former club Lincoln City, was made available on the loan market in early October after he became a target for the Boundary Park boo boys during a 4-0 defeat at Barnsley.

The Iron were searching for a midfielder at the time, and have since swooped for Birmingham City's Peter Till.

"As I've said before, it is Lincoln all the way for me," Butcher told the Lincolnshire Echo.

"I turned down Scunthorpe and Bournemouth when I moved on loan to Lincoln because it is the place I want to be.

"It is hard to regret moving to Oldham because I didn't expect what happened."

The midfielder will return to the Latics following this weekend's fixtures, but he wants to stay at Sincil Bank.

"Hopefully things can be sorted out and I can return on a permanent basis in January," he added.
