The problem kept him out of the games against Brigg Town and Doncaster Rovers, although he is expected to feature against Sheffield United on Saturday.
Tuesday night's game will see the left-back Marcus Williams make his first appearance of pre-season, after being omitted from the squads for the two games so far while his new two-year contract was being finalised.
United have released all the trialists who featured against Brigg and Doncaster apart from the left-back Michael Lea, who is likely to be on the bench at the Don Valley Stadium with Williams handed a starting spot.
That means the manager Nigel Adkins has a much more streamlined squad, and is working with the same players he will have to choose from when the season gets underway against Leeds United on Saturday August 9.
