The Australian forward is a target man, and joins on a free transfer after leaving Scottish side Falkirk in the summer.
"As a striker, his link-up play is good. He is big, strong and will ruffle a few feathers for us in League One," Scunthorpe boss Brian Laws told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.
"He gives us a different option up front, and that is what we need."
Iron manager Brian Laws also expects to sign a left winger from a Championship club before Thursday's transfer deadline.
But most eyes will be on United forward Billy Sharp - with a host of Championship clubs being linked with bids in various media reports and in speculation on the Iron-Bru.net messageboard.
