Winn, who can also play up front, has been on the fringes of the first-team at Glanford Parkfor a while but has found actual time on the pitch hard to come by.
He had been linked with a move to Mansfield, now a Blue Square Premier side, but McEwan said he has not made an approach.
"I have looked at him, as I have done a lot of players, but I not spoken to him about coming here," he told the Nottingham Evening Post.
Mansfield are believed to have made an enquiry over his availability, but have not taken their interest any further yet.
Winn has made just one competitive start for Scunthorpe, coming off the bench five times.
