Lillis is the chief of the Huddersfield Town academy and despite press reports linking the former Iron striker and assistant manager with the top job at Glanford Park- he insists he is very happy at the Terriers.
“I have connections with Scunthorpe going back a long way, and I suppose that’s where these stories have come from,” he said.
“But I have a big and enjoyable job here and I consider it very much a work in progress.
“When I got the job, (chairman) Dean Hoyle said to me ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day – but it did get done’ and I’ve used that as my motivation.”
