Laws said: "I was both pleased and disappointed: delighted we got back in the game, but not happy with the way we conceded the goal.
"We showed great credentials and kept it going and thankfully we did, our work ethic was great and there were a great many positives.
"We have to make sure Glandford Park is a difficult park to come to, there is nothing for us to be frightened of and we should be able to match what we have seen.
"The game was not as high tempo as midweek (against Barnsley), we didn't expect that, but their keeper wasted a lot of time and that got everybody wound up."
Gillingham's Neale Cooper was pleased to be heading back down the A1 with a point.
He said: "We are still unbeaten after three games, we knew it would be hard at Scunthorpe.
"They put us under a lot of pressure, but we have a lot of good movement and I can't fault my players at all.
"We are fighting as a team and while we are not the finished article and we hope to strengthen in the next week or two - we are not far away."
