The comments are bound to stoke up the heat ahead of tomorrow's eagerly anticipated play-off semi-final between the two sides.
Alexander said: "I thought what he'd got to say in the early part of the season as unwarranted, I had a word with the League Managers Association about it.
"They've spoken to him and taken necessary action and as far as I'm concerned that's the end of the matter."
