Laws takes point in scrappy game

United opened brightly, taking an early lead through Steve Torpey, but Kevin Ellison levelled for the home side after 19 minutes.

Laws said: "I thought we could have had it all wrapped up in the first 10 minutes, but when they equalised it became very scrappy.

"I didn't enjoy watching that, we will take the point, but I will probably forget about this game in the next five minutes.

"It was an awful game to watch, there was a period of time where the ball was not on the deck and I think we got dragged down to their level.

"Chester did well to close us down, but when there were opportunities to play I didn't think we took advantage."

Chester manager Ian Rush said: "After we went a goal down, I think we outplayed the best team in the League and that is something special.

"Hopefully people will go back now and say that Chester City can play
football.

After Scunthorpe scored we showed that we can fight. The mental toughness is coming back and I thought that really we deserved to win."
