Steve Torpey struck in the first minute to seal the three points, putting clear distance between United anc the chasing pack.
Laws said: "This was a fantastic an emphatic result, we oozed class and played some consistent and electrifying football.
"This could be the turning point of our season, we are now seven points clear and have some breathing space.
"This sends a message to the rest: 'come and catch us'. But we are not going to get carried away.
"We have strength in depth, are free scoring and have learned a lot over the last six months."
Swansea's Kenny Jackett had praised United before the match as the best side in the division, and held his hands up to being beaten by the better side.
He said: "I have no complaints. Scunthorpe had the edge, our keeper did fantastically well and you get what you deserve.
"We battled well, but Scunthorpe were organised very strong and very powerful. In Peter Beagrie they have a really class player and Paul Hayes looked talented.
"Keeper Willy Gueret has a little bit of everything and made some excellent saves, but my lads a feeling a little bit down.
"Things can change, but Scunthorpe have a good points total and are a physically strong side - but we can still catch them."
