Laws: Sodje will score goals

Scunthorpe bossed the game, but conceeded after Tom Newey gave away a penalty with 15 minutes to go for a push in the area.

Laws however was unimpressed with the referee's decision to give a penalty.

"The goal we conceeded is really disappointing from the referee's point of view, he's let a lot go on the pitch, and then gave a soft penalty", Laws told BBC Radio Humberside

"Not one of their players appealed for a penalty, that gives you an indication that they didn't think anything was there.

The Iron boss also beleives it will only take a goal for new signing Akpo Sodje to go on a goalscoring run, despite the misfiring striker spurning some glorious chances at Gresty Road.

"Sodje needs a goal, thats for sure. When he gets his first goal he'll go on a run.

"He's a confidence player. He's snatched at a couple today, but hes got to be in the right place to miss them.

"If he's getting in the right positions it will come.

Laws beleives the Iron have the belief in the squad to avoid relegation and added: "The defeat is the hardest part to take, we didnt deserve that.

"The only disappointing thing is that we didn't finish them off. We had enough clear opportunities, but we didn't get that final finish to win the game."
