Laws praises players after derby win

Ridders senior deputised at left back for the suspended Andy Dawson and had a solid game in his first ever Humber derby.

Even though he will return to the bench for the visit of Lincoln City on Sunday when Dawson returns, Laws thought that he had a solid game.

"Lee Ridley has done teffific, so I'm pleased for him," said Laws speaking after yesterday's game.

"It is a hard job coming in for Andy Dawson but he has done well."

Ridders wasn't the only player picking up praise, with Laws pleased with the response to last weeks defeat.

"I was pleased with the way the players responded after the defeat at Boston," he said.

"After a slow opening we got into the game and we are desperate to stay in the push for promotion."

Hull's manager Peter Taylor apparently wasn't watching the same game as the 6284 paying fans in the ground as he thought the Mudrats were unlucky to lose.

"We were punished by three poor goals because of poor defending," he whinged.

"We worked very hard and passed the ball around well, we had chances and looked good from corners but were not positive."

The defeat leaves Hull further away from the playoffs than at any point this season, and peering over their shoulder at a potential relegation battle.
