Two early goals from Billy Sharp, the second a penalty after Andy Keogh was bundled over in the area, saw the Iron cruise to a 2-0 win.
Laws said: "The result goes hand in hand with our performance. It was thoroughly deserved and we kept it very tight.
"We knew we were in for a tough game, but we were fast out of the blocks and were up for it.
"There were some great individual performances and we kept a clean sheet which is pleasing.
"We gave them no time to pick passes up - Keogh and Sharp were outstanding.
"It was a performance of a high level, busy and industrious and we must hope to produce this away from home."
Dons boss Danny Wilson complained: "We did not deserve anything from the game, we created nothing and had only one shot on goal.
"We lost too many 50/50 balls and there was no commitment, we only looked anything like when Felipe Morais came on.
"Full credit to Scunthorpe they started well and maintained the standard throughout."
