Laws said: "Even when we went a goal down we looked confident and to score three goals is magnificent.
The new lads have come in and done well, particularly (Matt) Bailey who played the majority of the game and he is only a young boy.
"His feet are good for a big lad and the players will have to get used to his strengths and weaknesses.
"I thought our fitness, particularly towards the end, looked exceptional and we got stronger.
"It was a penalty for their goal. I would have been unhappy if the referee hadn't given it at the other end so we can have no argument."
Rochdale manager Steve Parkin said: "We did okay in the first half, in fact we had the upper edge.
"But the second half was disappointing as we defended too deeply, yet at times did well.
"Initially we looked good enough to get something from the game, but in the end we gave away some poor goals."
