Although Jim Goodwin put the Iron ahead after eight minutes, the Bees hit back to take all three points.
Laws said: "I'm very disappointed, I gambled a little bit with a changed formation and put out some walking wounded in a makeshift team who made a fantastic start.
“You've got to defend set plays, but we showed a lack of positional sense and from the strong position that we started in we became frozen stiff.
“Their first to shots on goal resulted in goals and the third, from a good Brentford side, sapped the strength from the team.
“Jim Goodwin showed great courage and determination in making his debut after a long lay-off and sheer frustration led to him seeing red near the end.”
Brentford's Martin Allen said: “This was a very good performance, they have all done very well, and we fully deserved to win.
“We passed well and were the dominant team from the first minute and this was a fantastic performance, possibly the best since I joined Brentford.
“I have got a fantastic squad of players and I'm lucky to have them and we have got a quality striker on-loan in Darren Pratley. We attacked well and defended well and they never had a shot.”
