United were on course for a 2-1 win until Martin McIntosh's leveller in stoppage time.
The point means Scunthorpe now only have a four point cushion to the relegation zone.
Laws said: "We lost two points, we pummelled their goal but they had a bit of luck and the game was great entertainment and you could not predict which way it would go.
"They took a gamble late on and it paid off for them, we should have put the game to bed much earlier on, especially in the first half.
"The football produced by both sides was excellent in difficult conditions. The players are disappointed, but if we keep playing the way we have done we should be okay."
Huddersfield's Peter Jackson said: "I thought we were a shade lucky in the end and we must start and keep clean sheets, it was very difficult out there.
"At least we got a point but we must be more positive."
