Andy Keogh's strike was enough to beat the Shots 1-0 at the Recreation Ground, and put the Iron into Sunday's third round draw - which will be televised live on the BBC.
Laws said: "This is the sixth time in a row we've got into the third round. We got the luck of draw last time when we played Chelsea.
"It changed our season around for greater things and helped our finances even more.
"It was a professional job against a side in a rich vein of form.
"Our breakaways were lethal, but finishing let us down. We could and should have finished the game off about four times.
"The longer the game went on, the more I was worried they'd get a half-chance."
Aldershot boss Terry Brown was proud of his team despite their exit.
He said: "Obviously I'm disappointed, but I'm also very proud. The boys played very well.
"I was pleased with the system we operated, it suited us. I knew we'd need to score two goals to win the game - their front pairing is as good as anything in League One.
"We had two gilt-edged chances to have equalised in the first half and if we had got a goal back the place would have been on fire and the result might have been very different."
