The Iron were blown away by an energetic York, who led 4-0 at the break.
“I’m going to take full responsibility for that and say I got it wrong. I got it completely wrong. It probably wasn’t the right formation for us tonight", Laws told the Official Website.
"It was a horror for us to see it unfold in the first twenty minutes. Talk about crash-bang-wallop.
“I know there were a couple of deflections, but they earned that right because they were ready, right out the traps and we just didn’t match it. Had we played in the manner of the second half in the first half, it would have been a closer game.
“I’m not saying we would have won it, but it certainly would have been a closer run thing.
Laws challenged his players to win the second half in an attempt to 'reduce the hurt'.
Sam Winnall's early goal pulled one back but the Iron couldn't find the net again despite David Mirfin going close, first heading wide and then hitting the bar late on.
"Like I said at half time, the one thing I’m demanding is that we win the second half outright.
“Had we applied ourselves like we did in the second half, with a bit more urgency, we could have been talking about a different game.”
