The Iron will be without forward Bobby Grant, who will serve a one-match ban after being sent off in the 1-1 draw with Colchester at Glanford Park.
“We are looking again at a youngster from the Premier League who we have tried to bring in before this season,” said Knill.
Grant was shown two yellow cards against the U's, both of which were needless. The first was for diving and the second, which came after he had put the Iron ahead, was for confronting Magnus Okuonghae after a tackle.
"Bobby is a young player and knows he should not have got involved again after already being on a yellow card,” said Knill.
“Even though it left us with 10 men for more than half the game I think we have got to look at this as two points dropped. I thought we played some excellent football at times and created a number of good chances.
“We could have been a couple of goals in front in the early stages. In the second half we tried to get our full-backs forward to try and support the front men and I thought we did well.
“Even with 10 men I did not think that Colchester were causing us any problems. It was just one poor piece of decision-making which has again let us down and allowed them in for an equaliser.”
John Ward, the Colchester boss, was happy to head back down the A1 with a point despite the numerical advantage his side enjoyed.
"Last term on the road we could not even win a raffle but today we have a point to take home with us and we have got to be happy with that," he said.
“It's a sign of the progress that I think we as a club are making. We can play better, we know that.
“But I am happy with the attitude and commitment that my players showed. I thought it was excellent. It was just one poor decision that has let us down.
“But we have got something to take away and something to build on and so we have got to be happy with that.”
