Knill has yet to add to his squad for next season, with focus primarily being on moving on unwanted players from the club.
Several players were released at the end of their contracts, most notably David Mirfin, Joe Murphy and Josh Wright, while Rob Jones has moved to Sheffield Wednesday.
Now Knill has been able to look at signings, and has approached "two or three" players.
"We are just waiting for them to get back to us. We've also made offers to clubs because the players we've offered deals to are out of contract but under the age of 24," he told the Iron's official website.
"At this stage you find players are to happy to wait, and then things don't work out as they think it's going to pan out and then they're in a panic zone.
"I think we're coming from quite a strong position though and whenever we have spoken to players we've put quite a good case forward. If they come to us, the chances are that they will improve."
One of those players is likely to be the Rotherham midfielder Nicky Law, who is 23 and out-of-contract at the Millers. Knill has confirmed an interest in the player.
The club have also been linked with the Rotherham forward Ryan Taylor, who is also 23 and out-of-contract.
Knill has ruled out a move for Bury's Ryan Lowe following reports from the BBC that he was interested, while he has also distanced himself from the Halifax Town forward Jamie Vardy.
