Haigh moved to the Old Showground from Liverpool in 1952, as United adjusted to life in the Football League following promotion from the Central Midlands League in 1950.
He scored in United's famous 3-1 win at Newcastle in the FA Cup fourth round in January 1958, also grabbing 66 goals in 329 league appearances.
He was also part of the side who claimed the Third Division (North) title the same season - what was Scunthorpe's only title in the Football League until this summer when the League One championship doubled that tally.
