Iwelumo admits nothing in football surprises him anymore as Laws was given the boot following the recent FA Cup exit at the hands of rivals Grimsby Town.
Iwelumo said: “The sacking of Lawsy shows you just how harsh football is.
“We were sitting a couple of points off the play-offs and three games later we’re now one point off top, so it goes to show how quickly it can all change.
“I do feel for him, he brought the squad together and signed lots of good players.
“I’ve always said that we will get promoted this season and I thought we were still on course to do that with Laws in charge. But football is football and it shows how ruthless the game is.
Iwelumo has been a bit part player at Scunthorpe so far this season, but at the age of 35, he has no plans to retire just yet.
“At the precise moment in time I’m feeling fit and ready so long may it continue.
“I’ll see how I am come the end of the season. I’ll see how the body is feeling, I’ll see how I am mentally and I’ll take it from there.”
