Manager Brian Laws missed Saturday's draw with Hull as he was watching a target, unlining the importance he places on the signing.
Wilcox revealed: "There are a couple of avenues that we are going down, but we don't want to say anything that might alert other clubs.
"It is imperative that we bring someone in, we only have three (strikers) at the moment and it is not enough.
"We are not 100 per cent at the moment, but we hope someone will come."
