Goals from Paul Hayes and Richard Kell sealed the three points, after Andy Kirk had fired the Cobblers into an early lead.
And Laws now believes that the Iron can go on and secure a top three finish, starting with a good result against bottom club Cambridge on Saturday.
He told the Press Association: "It was such an important win for us. We've got two home games left as well and we're feeling very confident.
"We've got to make sure we don't relinquish it now. We're obviously relieved to get another win under our belts away from home.
"It gives us some momentum again and we're feeling very optimistic going into our remaining games."
