The former Sheffield Wednesday striker, who played at Hillsborough under Iron boss Brian Laws has penned a deal until the end of the season.
"I watched the last game on TV and they had loads of chances, so hopefully I'll start getting the chances and start scoring the goals to keep the team up", Sodje told Iron Player.
"My main aim is to keep Scunthorpe United in League One.
"Brian knows what I can do, what I can bring to a team and how to get the best from me."
Sodje left Preston earlier in the season after failing to agree a new deal- having scored seven goals in 17 appearances this term.
Brian Laws was delighted to get Sodje at Glanford Park, despite interest from other clubs including a possible move to Russia.
"He's fit and ready to go and prepared for a battle.
"We are delighted he has chosen Scunthorpe United"
