Josh Lillis, Andy Wright, Eddie Nolan, Sam Togwell, Cliff Byrne, Michael O'Connor, Jordan Robertson, Garry Thompson, Aaron Wint and Ashley Palmer have also gone.
All 10 were out-of-contract this summer, but the club had options to extend Lilis, Palmer, Thompson, Togwell, Wint and Wright's stays at the club by a further 12 months.
"I just want to personally thank every single iron fan for the support I received over the last 4 years," wrote Thompson on his Twitter account.
"Would like to thank everyone involved with scunthorpe united for a great 3years I spent at the club," added O'Connor, also on Twitter.
Bobby Grant is the only out-of-contract player kept on, with the club taking up the option to keep him for another season.
It leaves the Iron with just 14 senior players signed on for next season, meaning manager Alan Knill is likely to make several signings before the August.
Byrne was the Iron's longest-serving player, having initially joined on loan from Sunderland for the latter stages of the 2002-03 season.
He made the move permanent in the summer, and helped the club to promotion from League Two as well as two climbs from League One to the Championship.
