Tranmere sold out their allocation of 1600 on Tuesday for the crucial end of season clash which will see one side reach the play-offs and onse side miss out.
United have said that first time buyers must show identification to prove that they live in the area before being able to purchase tickets for the home ends from the ticket office.
Supporters who have purchased tickets before will not need to show identification as details should already be registered in the club's ticketing system.
Although the club did not confirm how many tickets they had sold for the fixture, they said it is possible to pay on the gate for the terrace.
Tranmere fans have been advised not to travel without a ticket - no more seats will be allocated for them on the day of the game.
