Blues boss Steve Bruce is happy for the highly-rated youngster to stay with the Iron, with his 'emergency loan' set to be extended until the January transfer window.
After that, United can complete the formalities to keep him until the end of the season.
Iron boss Brian Laws told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: "I have already spoke to Steve Bruce about him, and we're going to extend that loan.
"I've got him for as long as I want. Steve Bruce is happy with him here and the player is happy here.
"I can play him in a few positions - I've seen him both up front and I've seen him out wide. If you feed him the ball, he's a good player."
