Ribeiro, 22, has been drafted in with Shane Duffy recalled by Everton and Michael Nelson expected to complete a move to the Scottish Premier League side Kilmarnick.
The paperwork is due to be completed on Friday, with the player available for the Iron until the middle of March.
Ribeiro, capped at U17, U19 and U21 level for Wales and with two senior international appearances, has spent the last two months on loan at Carlisle.
He made seven appearances for the Cumbrians and has also had temporary spells at Stockport and Colchester.
It is the latest move in a busy transfer window at Glanford Park, which has already seen Connor Jennings sign from Stalybridge.
Watford midfielder Josh Walker is also a target for Alan Knill, the Iron manager.
As well as Duffy's recall by Everton, due to an injury to Phil Jagielka, striker Chris Dagnall has moved to Championship side Barnsley.
Goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, on loan from Manchester United, is also set to return to his parent club.
