Iron bag Ryan

The player has signed a one-year contract following a loan spell at Glanford Park towards the end of last season.

The midfielder made no first-team appearances for the Iron, but Laws was impressed enough with what he saw.

Ryan is a creative midfielder whose game, Laws feels, will suit League One.

The 21-year-old is highly rated and was released by Sunderland this summer.

He made a handful of substitute appearances as they suffered relegation from the Premiership two years ago, but injury put paid to his hopes the following season.

Bristol City and Coventry were all rumoured to be interested in the midfielder before he joined United on loan in March, but now following Richard Kell's departure the player looks like playing a big role at Glanford Park next season.

Laws will now step up his search for another more experienced midfielder to fill the void left by Richard Kell.
