Basque midfielder Alex Calvo-Garcia is also a major doubt, with a groin strain.
17-year-old Russell Penn has been included in the squad and could make his debut.
Penn only left school this summer, but Laws has no fears about putting him into his first team squad tonight.
He said: "Russell's just turned 17 and he's another product of the youth team. He's played in the reserves a few times and done reasonably well.
"He has got no fear in his belly, he is very confident in his ability, he certainly has a trick, he can get past people and it will be interesting to see if he does get on the park to see what he can do."
Sam Russell will again start in goal for United havingsigned a one month extension to his loan deal from Middlesbrough to keep him at Glanford Park until October 21 and Laws is likely to again start his other loanee, striker Steve McLean.
