The veteran forward, 34, is without a side after leaving Sheffield United in the summer.
He had ended last season on loan at Glanford Park, but did not find the net in any of his 12 appearances.
He is now training with the Saddlers in an attempt to win a return to the professional game.
"Geoff lives locally and asked if he could come in and train with us," the Walsall manager Jimmy Mullen said..
"He was getting fed up training on his own in his local gym so we have allowed him to come in and do some work with us.
"That is the situation as it currently stands."
