The club had said earlier in the week that Hooper would play against the Owls, but although his name appeared on the substitutes list he was not dressed in playing kit suggesting he would play no part in the match.
The striker, 22, is the hottest property outside the Premier League this summer and the Scottish Sun claimed on Saturday morning that the Iron had accepted a £2.4million bid.
That transfer fee would be the largest received by the Iron, eclipsing the deal that took Billy Sharp to Sheffield United for around £2m.
