Hinds was red carded following a challenge on Steve Jennings in the closing stages of Saturday's defeat.
But after reviewing video of the incident, Iron boss Brian Laws has lodged an appeal with the Football Association.
The appeal means the three-match ban is delayed, though if the red card is upheld then Hinds will still serve the suspension at a later date.
If the club are successful then he will not be downgraded to a yellow, meaning he will escape a one-match ban for collecting five bookings.
