He had agreed terms on a move to the Scottish Premier League side Hamilton, but backed out over the weekend and appears to be on the verge of a move to Bristol City instead.
"I spoke to Izzy last week and he told me he was coming," said the Accies manager Billy Reid.
"But then I got a call from his agent telling me he was going to Bristol City. It's disappointing but that's the nature of the game.
"I knew he was a complex character but he was a decent player who would have added something to the squad.
"We've got an eye on two or three players and hopefully we can do something there."
