Chairman Steve Wharton told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: "The five figure investment in a new ticketing system demonstrates the club's desire to progress to a higher level both on and off the field.
"I am delighted to have the new system in place and expect it to provide huge benefits to both the club and its supporters."
United can also find out who the more loyal supporters are, through database records.
The new-look tickets all provide better security, with a hologram making them harder to forge.
When United hosted then-Premiership Leeds United in the third round of the FA Cup in January 2003 many people gained entrance to the game using false tickets - despite stewards checking for fakes at the entrances to all three home stands.
United assistant club secretary Dave Beeby added: "Over the course of the season we are looking to make better use of the data we collect by running campaigns and reports that will bring the club and it's supporters closer together."
