Last season's top scorer was offered a one year deal on reduced terms, and despite attracting interest from Macclesfield Town Carruthers has decided to accept the deal.

This means that veteran winger Peter Beagrie is the only player offered a deal to stay at the club who is yet to accept it, he will give his answer to the club after returning from a family holiday.

Iron manager Brian Laws said: "Both players have confirmed to Russ Wilcox that they are accepting our contract offers and I will be delighted to have them in our squad again next season."

Meanwhile injury plagued striker Rob Taylor has revealed that he has had offers from other clubs.

The expereinced forward joined United at the end of last season on a pay-as-you-play deal.

He has not been offered a contract with the club, but along with Richard Kell has been told that he is welcome to return to pre-season training in a bid to impress the manager.

Taylor told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: "All I want to do though now is play football, I'm not worried about money and I'm going to keep my options open and see what happens."
