Though the relegated Championship club enjoyed a 2-1 opening day victory over fellow promotion favourites Huddersfield Town at the City Ground, they have since gone down in both their away games; firstly at Walsall (2-3) and Swindon Town (1-2).
Forest under pressure to get a result
In the transfer market during the summer, boss Gary Megson added proven defensive quality to his side to try and halt his club's slide down the leagues.
In has come experience. Ian Breckin and Nicky Eaden were key players in Wigan’s promotion to the Premiership last season and it was a surprise when the defensive duo joined Forest, but both look excellent additions.
John Curtis (from Portsmouth) and Danny Cullip (Sheffield United) are both big doubts for Saturday's games but over a long campaign their additions should also prove inspired.
Gino Padula was a regular starter at left-back for QPR last year in the Championship and adds further quality to Forest’s left flank.
Whilst Gary Holt is a solid, no-nonsense midfielder and the former chef should sort out Forest’s engine room which was so lacklustre last season.
Winger Nicky Southall from Gillingham looks a solid short-term arrival and should compliment left-sided winger Kris Commons well on the right.
But there is still some quality at Forest from last season. Commons was a star in the Championship so imagine what he will be like in League One? Any team in the league would love to have strikers of the quality of Neil Harris, Gareth Taylor, Jack Lester, Scott Dobie and David Johnson on their books, and Megson is looking to add more - having a bif for highly-rated Walsall hotshot Matty Fryatt rejected in the week.
United travel to the City Ground on Saturday hoping to capitalise on the pressure Megson's side are under at the moment, and boosted by fresh strikepower in the form of £100,000 signing Billy Sharp and fit-again Tommy Johnson and Peter Beagrie, plus alot of confidence, the Iron could well get a result.
