Fit-again Richard Hinds will come in for the 32-year-old centre back who played 70 minutes of Saturday's match with Yeovil, despite suffering an injury during the warm-up.

Iron boss Brian Laws decided to risk playing Crosby after originally toying with the idea of leaving him out and drafting Cliff Byrne into the starting line-up, and virus victim Ian Baraclough onto the bench.

United went on to lose after going into a promising 2-0 lead, with the veteran captain limping through the game.

Laws told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: "We knew there was a risk playing Crozzer, but with so many other players missing, we felt it was one we had to take - and one Andy himself was happy to go along with.

"Hopefully it will just be the Tranmere game that he misses."

Meanwhile, Laws hopes to bring in a loan player before Friday's game.
