The Daily Star claimed during the week that the Championship side were preparing a £2million bid for the Iron's top scorer, while the Daily Mirror had also linked the Premier League club Fulham with a move.
But these suggestions to be classic tabloid rumour-mongering, with Coleman saying there is no truth behind the link to his club or claims his side were also interested in Norwich's Mark Fotheringham.
"There is no truth in in the links with Fotheringham or Hooper," he told the Coventry Telegraph.
"There will be stories about some of our players leaving that won't be true and there will be some stories about players we are going to sign and they won't be true. There's nothing we can do about that."
