Carlisle game will be played on Monday

With temperatures dropping as low as minus six throughout the week it was no real surprise that Thursday nights game was called off three hours before kick off.

Carlisle United staff had spent the past 24 hours trying to get the pitch playable to no avail, even chairman John Courtenay was down there helping out (and would Steve Wharton do that, I think not).

Although Iron-Bru.net made the best of a bad situation by enjoying a few pints with the locals, many fans had spent the best part of three hours travelling upto Cumbria and the SUFC party had already visited the ground.

SUFC and CUFC favoured playing the tie on Friday Jan 03rd, but the Football Association are insisting ont he game being played at the earliest available date so as not to disrupt the third round.

It is unlikely that SKY will be able to cover Monday's match.
