The Basque midfielder was replaced in the second half of Saturday's game, but is expected to be fit to play on Saturday when York City are in town.
"I can't afford to have Alex continue limping on the pitch and putting him out for even longer, so brought him straight off and that's what we have to do if we've got any doubt," said Laws.
"I think he'll be all right but it's more a case of a dead leg and he's certainly going to be very sore."
