Stanton has sat out the last three games through suspension, after being sent off against Leyton Orient, but his replacement Cliff Byrne will keep his place in the starting line-up.
Former Republid of Ireland Under-21 captain Byrne has been in great form since returning to the side, and Laws has ruled out dropping him while he is playing so well.
He said: "The one thing I've stressed to the players is that if they do well when they get the chance, then they will stay in the team.
"If I brought Stanton back to the starting 11, Byrne and every other player who is not featurring would be very disappointed."
The Shrews travel to Glanford Park in the midst of a relegation struggle, but were boosted by a win over Swansea City last Saturday.
That win allowed United to move back to the top of the League Two table, but the Swans were largely architects of their own downfall after being reduced to nine men.
But the result has given Gary Peters' men a confidence boost ahead of the game, and will give United a tough game.
One man who will be missing is midfielder Sam Aiston - a player familiar to Iron fans, having broken Gareth Sheldon's leg with a late challenge and being sent off for an elbow on Andy Dawsoon - as he has gone under the surgeon's knife to cure a cartilage problem.
Iron boss Laws is stressing his side must be at their best to take three points, especially as they now face the burden of expectancy.
He added: "Everybody is expecting us to win this one, but we find these games the most difficult.
"It is easier to play against the teams at the top of the table, because they are consistent with their performances.
"You find with teams at the bottom, one week thay are magnificent and beat the likes of Swansea and others they couldn't beat the Dog and Duck."
